Dr James van Hoften, navy pilot, engineer, space shuttle pilot and space walker, gave the branch a unique insight into the NASA space programme. The audience enjoyed some breathtaking views of earth from 500kms and some unique film footage of living in space. Dr van Hoften made space walking sound like a stroll in the park and taking off into the eye of a hurricane an everyday event.
