Dr Owen spoke of the Buddhist kingdom of Ladakh, often known as Little Tibet or Western Tibet, located at a strategic trade crossroads for China, Afghanistan, Tibet and India. Easier access to the area has enabled Ladakh to resume its old ways of international trade and its attractive mix of rich culture, warm hospitality, magnificent mountain scenery and high altitude desert is once again being sampled by foreign visitors.
