The Hong Kong Society, which is based in the UK, has in recent years organised an annual event in Hong Kong. For 2017,  the Royal Geographical Society is pleased to co-host with the Hong Kong Society, the Royal Commonwealth Society and the British Consulate-General a British 'Musical Soiree', which will feature light classical arias and show tunes.

This event is performed by acclaimed tenor Jamie Lonsdale and soprano Mary Jess, accompanied by Lyndall Dawson on the piano.  Jamie Lonsdale and Mary Jess have performed together many times for charity concerts in London and at Mr Londsdale's magnificient house, Kingstone Lisle Park in Oxfordshire.

While studying Mandarin in China in 2009, Mary Jess shot to stardom after she won 'Min Xing Chang Fan Tian' (China's 'X Factor' TV talent show), watched by over 70 million people. After singing for Britain at 'The GREAT Festival of Creativity' in Shanghai in 2015, Mary Jess was invited to become a representative of The GREAT Britain campaign promoting British music in some 150 countries. She is also a leading light of the UK-China Alumni Network, an ambassador for 'Half the sky' and last year conducted a teaching tour of Suzhou, Hangzhou and Lanzhou.

The performance is to be followed by drinks and canapes.

Members of the RGS are most welcome to attend this event, which is HK$480. Please note once the payment is done, no cancellation will be made.
