Mark Shand gave the story of his 300mile journey across Northeast India with two elephants and Parbati Barua, India's only female Mahout (elephant driver). Mark won Travel Writer of the Year for his book "Travels on My Elephant", published in 1991, which became a bestseller. It tells the story of his 600mile journey with an elephant called Tara.
