The Viking Sun Compass
In 1969, the sailor Sir Robin KnoxJohnston became the first person to make a nonstop circumnavigation of the world single handed and in 1994, he set a new nonstop sailing circumnavigation record of just under 75 days in the catamaran Enza New Zealand. Sir Robin lectured to the branch on the Viking sun compass and showed a recently made BBC documentary on his voyage in a Viking trading ship using the compass.
