My last book: Trieste and the Meaning of Nowhere

Jan Morris
Thursday, 6 Sep 2001
Jan Morris lectured about writing her last book and why she has chosen Trieste as a medium for meditations about themes that have preoccupied her all her life the decline of empires, the nature of cities, love, lust and the ageing process. She decided to use Trieste, a city that has intrigued and haunted her all her adult life, and she has called the book TRIESTE AND THE MEANING OF NOWHERE not a travel book, but a contemplation of past and present in a very unusual city.
