Field Trip: Sham Shui Po Renovated Heritage and Neighbourhood

V'air Leader
Sunday, 23 Jun 2024
9.30am - 12.00pm
Sham Shui Po

The RGS-HK is pleased to offer a guided walking tour to the Sham Shui Po neighborhood in collaboration with V'air, an organisation dedicated to sustainable education. Join us on this journey to explore the intersection of global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and local initiatives.

In recent years, Sham Shui Po, the second poorest district by income in Hong Kong, has undergone many changes. There are lots of new building projects, and cool artsy shops are popping up, changing the neighborhood.

By exploring the neighbourhood, participants gain insights into the difficulties brought about by redevelopment for existing businesses, envisioning the future, environmental issues and social dynamics.

The tour also delves into the role of new-generation cultural and creative industries and discusses the importance of public spaces for the community, offering a fresh perspective on Sham Shui Po.

Itinerary includes:

• The original site of Peng Tsai - Yen Chow Street Hawker Bazaar
• Sham Shui Po Park
• Tung Chau Street Temporary Market (including Sham Shui Po Jade Market and Fabric Market)
• Trinity Towers and Kweilin Street Public Open Space
• Tai Nan Street
• Lui Seng Chun (Grade I historic building)

Dismiss at Prince Edward MTR Station at 12 pm.

Cost:

$150 for student members, $380 for members and $480 for guests
