Building on earlier achievements—including summiting Mt Lobuche East (6,119 m) and Mt Aconcagua (6,963 m)— the Mt Manaslu climb demanded rigorous physical conditioning, advanced logistics planning, and the same quiet determination that first took him up the Swiss Alps as a young climber.

More than a personal triumph, the Mt Manaslu expedition served as a critical step in Kurt’s broader ambition: to stand atop even higher mountains including Mount Everest (8,849 m) in 2027. The experience tested his resilience at extreme altitude, refined his risk-management skills.

Kurt Walter hails from Switzerland and is the General Manager of the Ladies Recreation Club in Old Peak Road.  As a young climber, he achieved many climbs in the Swiss Alps and is a graduate of the Swiss Hotel School in Lucerne.  Originally an executive chef, he has worked in hotel and club general management for 30 years.  He managed clubs in London, Moscow and Hanoi, before moving to Hong Kong.
